The Illinois underground coal mine where Fourez was employed at the time of the event is where he passed away.
According to mine safety reports, the Hamilton County underground coal mine has been looked into in relation to two previous deaths, one of which occurred over the weekend. Cameron Fourez, 41, of West Frankfort, was the miner who passed away.
According to early autopsy findings, he died as a result of closed chest wounds he sustained when a coal mine roof fell. The U.S. Department of Labor’s regulatory agency, the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), is presently looking into the incident.
The mine’s controller is identified as Alliance Resource Partners LP, but a representative couldn’t be reached for comment. The mishap occurred at Hamilton No. 1 Mine early on Saturday, just after 2 a.m., according to the mine’s general manager. During the incident, an employee was installing extra roof support when an underground roof collapsed.
