José Luis Alonso and Ana Maria Diaz Martinez are his parents. Jose Luis, his father worked as a mechanic in an explosives factory and was a Kart Racer enthusiast. Jose wanted his kids to participate in karting.

He was born in Oviedo, Spain, on the 29th of July 1981. Lorena Diaz is his younger sister. His father is an amateur kart racer and instilled in him a passion for automobiles and racing.
