Addison Mitchell McConnell III born on February 20, 1942 is an American Republican politician and retired attorney who has been the Senate minority leader since 2021 and the senior United States senator from Kentucky since 1985.

He previously served as Senate majority leader from 2015 to 2021, and as minority leader from 2007 to 2015. Elaine Lan Chao born March 26, 1953 is a Tapei Taiwan immigrant to the United states and wife to Mitchell McConnell.

She is a businesswoman and former government official. As a Republican, Chao served as the Trump administration’s 18th Secretary of Transportation from 2017 to 2021, and as the Bush administration’s 24th Secretary of Labor from 2001 to 2009.
