Stephanie Lynn Nicks is an American singer, songwriter, and producer best known as a member of Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, after beginning her career as a duo with her then-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham, releasing the album Buckingham Nicks to little success.

Nicks sang background vocals on nearly every track of Not Shy, which was recorded by musician Walter Egan, a friend of both Nicks and Buckingham. “Magnet and Steel,” inspired by Nicks, featured her backing vocals prominently and was a hit single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the summer of 1978.

Lindsey Buckingham also played guitar and provided backing vocals on some of the tracks while producing the album. In 1978, Nicks recorded the hit duet “Whenever I Call You Friend” with Kenny Loggins, and in 1979, he recorded “Gold” with John Stewart. On Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ Hard Promises tour in 1981, Nicks made a few cameo appearances.
