At Kelly’s sex abuse and trafficking trial in New York, Azriel Clary, one of R. Kelly’s former live-in girlfriends, testified.

When Clary, also known as “Jane Doe 5,” was 17 years old, she first started dating Kelly after meeting him backstage at a concert.

According to the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly, her parents famously battled for Azriel’s safe return, claiming that she was a member of a cult and had been badly brainwashed and controlled by the infamous R&B artist.

She claims that when Kelly was being arrested in December 2019, she left permanently.

Clary discovered she had vaginal herpes after being rushed to a hospital. She claimed that after telling Kelly, he became “agitated” and accused her, suggesting she might have contracted the STI from a different partner.

Kelly was the first and only male Clary had ever been involved with, according to her testimony.
