Amber Laura Heard was born in Austin, Texas. She is an American film and television actor, born on April 22, 1986. She has English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and German ancestry.

Her parents are David Clinton Heard, who owned a small construction company, and Patricia Paige who was an internet researcher from 1956 to 2020. She has a younger sister, named Whitney.

Heard was raised as a Catholic but began identifying as an atheist at sixteen when her best friend died in a car crash. She dropped out of Catholic high school to pursue an acting career in Los Angeles afterward.
