Chris Garver (born September 11, 1970) is a tattoo artist who has been on TLC’s Miami Ink reality programme. Garver grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and went to The Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. Garver’s mother was a painter who pushed him to pursue his passion for painting and sketching. He began tattooing at the age of 17, after selling his bass guitar to fund the purchase of his tattoo supplies. Garver studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Before starting tattooing customers on his own, he apprenticed for six months and corrected existing tattoos that required touch-ups. Garver relocated to New York City in his early twenties and became a full-time professional tattoo artist.
