Advanced SearchCharles Randolph “Charlie” Korsmo is an American former child actor turned attorney. He gained fame for portraying roles like The Kid/Dick Tracy, Jr. in ‘Dick Tracy’; Siggie in ‘What About Bob?’, and Jack Banning in ‘Hook’. A North Dakota native, Korsmo grew up in Minnesota. He made his screen debut when he was 12 years old, in the drama film ‘Men Don't Leave’. His television debut came about in that year as well, in the telefilm ‘Heat Wave’. Korsmo was active in the entertainment industry for about eight years before retiring in 1998. He subsequently earned a law degree from Yale Law School in 2006. A year later, he got through the New York State Bar examination. Korsmo worked as an associate in the New York office of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and later as a visiting professor at Brooklyn Law School. In 2006, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School.While he was a student at Yale, he was affiliated with a non-profit organization called the Federalist Society, which is used as a platform by conservative and libertarian lawyers and law students in their effort to bring about reform in the present US legal system in accordance with a textualist or originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. In January 2006, he joined his fellow law students at Yale in signing an open letter to Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter, backing Samuel Alito’s nomination to the US Supreme Court.In July 2007, he received the permission to practice law in New York after getting through the state’s bar exam. For a period, Korsmo was employed at the New York office of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP as an associate. He also worked as a visiting professor at Brooklyn Law School from 2009 to 2011. At present, he is associated with the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland as a professor.
