Two vehicles were involved in a fatal car accident on Buddington Road in Groton, Connecticut, according to the Groton Police.

At at 10:18 on Saturday, May 6, 2023, Groton Emergency Dispatch received many 911 reports of a two-car crash in the vicinity of 149 Buddington Road in Groton, Connecticut, between Poquonnock Road and Drozdyk Drive.

When the police arrived, they discovered a Jeep Cherokee and a Volkswagen Jetta in the road, both with severe front-end damage. The Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, the Groton Ambulance Association, the Mystic River Ambulance Association, Sub-Base Ambulance, and medical personnel from L & M Hospital were among the emergency responders. First responders got there on the spot to help the people in both cars. The only occupant and driver of the Volkswagen Jetta was found to be unconscious.

After being able to identify the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta, Groton police officers notified the driver’s family that they were the next-of-kin. The deceased operator was identified as 40-year-old Groton, Connecticut resident Charles R. Vandermark.

Ailene Molina, the 41-year-old female driver of the Jeep Cherokee, and her 5-year-old daughter, both of Groton, were treated at L&M Hospital for non-life-threatening wounds before being released over the weekend.
