Fitness is a way of life for Baker, who is also a personal trainer. "I've always been a fitness bunny and it's amazing to watch the games," she says. "The atmosphere in the place is amazing… I train about four to five times a week if I can — resistance, cardio, viper, spin — I do a lot of classes. I enjoy it."
Baker eats a healthy, balanced diet. "I eat a lot of oily fish, fruit and vegetables," she says. "My favorite is avocado. I hardly ever drink alcohol. I do like dark chocolate, which is good for you. I have just a little treat — a square — every now and again."
Baker swears by resistance training to build muscle. "Fitness is my biggest passion so I hit the gym four or five days a week – six if I can," she says. "As a qualified personal trainer I know what I'm doing and though I love cardio, I also do a lot of resistance training. You don't see many women hitting the weights, but they're amazing for building functional strength and burning fat. I like switching up sessions every time but the common theme is going hard and getting my heart rate up."
Baker prioritizes protein in her diet. "I recently experimented with vegetarianism but since I don't use supplements I started to worry I wasn't getting enough quality protein, so I re-introduced fish to my diet," she says. "I eat a lot of fruit, salads and sweet potatoes."
Baker says her prayers on a daily basis and goes to church, saying it's good for her. "Prayer elicits the relaxation response, which lowers blood pressure and other factors heightened by stress," according to the University of Minnesota. "Secondary control – prayer releases control to something greater than oneself, which can reduce the stress of needing to be in charge."
