She was homeschooled and received education from a set tutor when she was an actor as a youngster, therefore she never went to public school. When Winbush was younger, she competed in gymnastics.
In 1994, Winbush made her acting debut in the television series Viper as Lucy Wilkes. She appeared in Dangerous Minds the next year as an actor. She played Emma Aimes, the character’s daughter, on the sitcom Little Adjustments (1995–1996) on a consistent basis. On a Halloween episode of Brotherly Love, Winbush played Emma once more.
