Lee Rose was a former American basketball coach who ushered his teams into remarkable victories.

Lee was born on October 23, 1936, in Irvine, Kentucky.

He attended Transylvania University.

Upon completion, he earned the position of assistant coach before he eventually became head coach and athletic director for the university’s basketball team.

It is on record that Lee took the team to victory with 160 wins in eight seasons.

Rose became the head coach for several men’s basketball teams for 27years before he settled for the position of assistant coach.

His years as a head coach were a successful era for the teams he coached which included the Charlotte 49ers and Purdue Boilermakers.

He took both teams to the Final Four.

Rose became the head coach of Purdue University’s Boilermakers for two years thus from 1978 to 1980.

He led the team to the Final Four in 1980.

According to reports, Rose left Purdue because he felt it was not a good fit.

Lee Rose passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, after battling Alzheimer’s disease.

He was 85 years old.
