Samuel Coleman Ayanna Soyini Pressley is a politician from Massachusetts who has been the U.S. representative for the 7th congressional district since 2019. On February 3, 1974, she was born. Pressley was elected to the Boston City Council as an at-large member in 2010.
She beat ten-term incumbent Mike Capuano in the Democratic primary in 2018 and ran unchallenged in the general election. Pressley was the first black woman elected to the Boston City Council and the first black woman elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Pressley and her husband, Conan Harris, reside in Boston’s Dorchester area with their stepdaughter, Cora.
Pressley disclosed in January 2020 that she had been diagnosed with alopecia areata, which resulted in the loss of all of her hair; she stated in a public statement, “I want to be free of the secret and the humiliation that that secret carries with it.”
She has spoken up about her experience as a survivor of child sexual abuse, and she was also allegedly sexually abused while attending Boston University.
