Roccuzzo is sensible about her diet, and refuses to eliminate food groups. "I try to take care of my diet by following a balanced diet; eating everything and allowing myself my whims from time to time," she says. "In my case, if the diet is very restrictive or eliminates certain foods, I will not be able to maintain it over time. That is why I believe that the diet Like everything, there has to be a balance."
Roccuzzo enjoys homemade whey pancakes made with bananas. "When choosing a whey protein, look for products made with organic, grass-fed whey," says Keri Glassman, RD. Roccuzzo has a home-gym setup, which makes it easier to fit workouts into her busy schedule. "Training at home makes everything easier for me," she says. "Although I like to have a routine and I am quite organized in my day to day, I have three children and plans often change. Therefore, being able to train at home gives me the freedom to adapt the training to my schedule."
Roccuzzo loves making salads with vegetables and protein-packed tuna. "There are a lot of varieties!" says registered nutritionist Jen Bruning. "Generally, tuna is a fish to be aware of when it comes to mercury content. Some canned tuna, like albacore, contains more mercury. Try looking for skipjack or yellowfin, sometimes packaged as 'light' tuna, which contain less mercury."
Roccuzzo says she has developed habits over the years that keep her happy and healthy. "I am not a fitness expert, but over time I have acquired certain habits that I think are important; eating before and after each workout, always hydrating, but especially when I am doing physical activity, and training responsibly," she says. "That is, to stretch before and after, maintain a good posture, do not push the body to the limit or to excessive training."
