Of all the Nicholas Sparks adaptations that have had audiences reaching for the tissues – or remote, depending on your tastes – The Notebook is without a doubt the one that resonated the most, especially after New Line’s 2004 movie starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling became a huge hit.

It’s since gone on to become one of the most beloved romance films of all time, constantly finding itself being rewatched by folks who just can’t get enough of its story of a “young couple who fall in love in the 1940s.” But if you’ve been itching to sit down with it again and have been unable to dig up a copy on DVD or Blu-ray, we have some good news for you as it’s just arrived on Netflix today.

True, The Notebook has been on the streaming site before now, but the beloved Ryan Gosling flick had departed a few months back and has only just returned. And with any luck, it’ll remain on the platform for a while yet, as if you’re into the genre, it’s definitely easy to fall in love with this well-acted and touching film.

But should romance not be your thing and you’d rather see Mr. Gosling in something else on Netflix, why not check out Drive? Arguably the actor’s best movie to date, it’s the film that put him on the map as a bonafide leading man capable of delivering strong dramatic performances.

Directed by the incredibly talented Nicolas Winding Refn, this taut thriller mixes “hyper-stylized violence, music and striking imagery” to create a truly compelling watch. One that’s oozing with style and will grip you from the first frame.
